Season 10 is here!  In the past I’ve sat through just the very first show and then skipped it until about April or May when we finally get to the Top 20. But with Simon gone and Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler on board, I just may be watching more from now till the Top 20.  This week was pretty good.  It’s definitely the same old Idol as far as auditions go, but what a breath of fresh air to not have all that arguing that usually stems from Simon.

Steven Tyler made me laugh – out loud even.  And I felt bad because I knew Jennifer Lopez was honestly getting upset when people cried.  She even cried. Randy just kind of seems like a third wheel now, but he was toned down a bit and not as obnoxious. And is it just me or does Steven Tyler look just like Janice Dickinson?

And there seemed to be more honest and heartfelt stories this time.  And yes, while there were some crazy auditions that you rolled your eyes at and made you wonder what the heck made those people think they could sing, it never got over the top ridiculous like it has in the past.

So, as the show reinvented itself?  I guess we’ll see when we get to the Top 20 and witness the other new changes to the show that are coming.  I know they are supposedly doing away with the the theme weeks this time and going to let them sing what they want, so we’ll see how this season goes.
