Obviously.
I love seeing the surprise lilies for two reasons each year: 1. They are a sign that summer is winding down and one of the last blooms in the garden. 2. They remind me of my dad. In 2014, my father had already been living in a nursing home for a year. We knew it was now permanent so we cleaned out his home. He had tons of these growing in his yard. I dug up every single one and brought them home to plant in our garden. So, these are my father's flowers. He passed away in late 2016 but I still get to have a fond memory of him each year.
It's butterfly season in the garden.
Despite the heat, nothing beats a summer homegrown harvest. Fresh cucumbers and mint from the garden made a nice salad for lunch today.
