Donald Trump’s inauguration is today. I won’t be watching.
I pulled out the manuscript for a book I started years ago and have worked on sporadically for several years now. Last time I worked on it was 2013. I think I might start on it again. Time to finish it.
While searching for my manuscript, I came across a 31 page essay I wrote for some project years ago (can’t even remember what project now) and decided to share it on Medium. It’s 6 parts. Published the first part. Read it here.
I made pancakes for breakfast, something I used to do every weekend but haven’t in several months. Also cooked bacon in the oven. Both were yummy.
Went to Tuesday Morning to buy a new colander. Found Harper Lee’s “Go Set A Watchman” on CD and picked it up too. First time we’d been out of the house since Thursday. The ice has melted.
Made a new recipe I found on Pinterest – a casserole with ground turkey.
White Chicken Chili for dinner.
Cashed in iTunes gift cards I got for Xmas. Only bought 1 single this time, but bought 6 full albums. Usually my wish list is full of singles by the end of the year. I never pay for music throughout the year. Just wait and request gift cards to buy it all at Xmas.
Cleaned and purged the kitchen: the pantry, dishes, glasses, utensils, food, everything. We are donating a lot, including two sets of dishes we never use. And we threw away about 2 trash bags full of junk and expired food.
Watched the first episode of NBC’s new show, The Emerald City. I’m so tired of Wizard of Oz inspired shows. I doubt this one will keep my attention.
Watched most of The Golden Globes. I thought Meryl Streep gave a good speech. Looks like La La Land will probably rack up at the Oscars if the Globes are an indication. Haven’t seen it yet.
Started binge watching the first season of “Beyond” on Free Form.
Day 5, Thursday
Woke up to snow on the ground. Not much, just a light cottony dusting, but pretty.
It’s payday! One day late because of the holiday on Monday.
Paid my personal property taxes too – fuck you Missouri!
Made chili for dinner.
Watched more of “Beyond.”
Reconnected with an old friend. He was my best friend in 8th grade. Haven’t seen or heard from him in years, and he hasn’t been on Facebook until recently. He’s had a really hard time the last 5 years, but it was nice to catch up.
