In 2021, I began thinking about creating a character for a series. More about the character and what inspired her later. I always have to start with a name, and I usually take to the internet to look up the meaning of various names. Soon, I had a name I liked. I wrote it on a post-it and began mapping out her story. (Yes, I kept that post-it!)

I had so much fun writing The Answers You Seek that I really wanted to focus on the mystery genre for the series. So, I spent last year writing the first book. I didn’t want this to be the typical series that you’d have to read in order. I wanted each book to be able to stand alone.

I thought about four books for the series, but I think I’m leaning more toward three right now. Still not sure about that, but I’ve already got another character in mind for a different series related to this first one!

I finished the book last Fall and immediately started editing. I took a break during the holidays. I always like to step away from the manuscript for a few weeks and then come back to it.

As 2022 rolled around, I started on the second book while waiting for an artist to work on the first book’s cover. I’d already been thinking about cover art for months. The artist did a great job! After I had a cover I liked, I went back to rereading the first book and doing my final edit.

I’m now prepping it for publication. It will be available for pre-order soon and will be released in April. But, I’m so excited about it that I wanted to share the book cover today! What do you think?
