Last night was my second show of the month at The Improv Shop. It was a live monthly storytelling show called All The Feels and the theme was “The First Time I…” I told a story from when I was 18 years old about the first time I ever went to a gay bar.
I love storytelling so I was thrilled to be asked to be a part of this. I enjoy listening to The Moth and Snap Judgment each weekend on NPR. And each year I participate in several live events like this one but they are always in October and are always ghost stories, so this was a nice change.
We had a great crowd that was very attentive and really seemed to be enjoying themselves. There were seven storytellers total, including the host. There was a first kiss story, a first panic attack story, and there were three stories about the first time the person pooped their pants! One of those poop stories even had a slide show with poop emojis. All of the stories were great and I enjoyed listening to them.
That’s it for me for the month for advanced scheduled shows, but that’s okay. August is a busy month for me at work since it’s the back to school season, and it always seems like a blur. Most nights I just want to come home and crash. I’ll definitely go to some open mics, but that’s it for the month for me.
