More blooms today!
More irises blooming this week. They always remind me of birds. The one in the upper right corner is special to me because it's from my mother's garden and has bloomed there since I was a child.
Our little brackish pond. It's only three feet wide and two feet deep, but it's fun to tend to each summer. This year we added mosquito fish and snails.

Many years ago the house next to my mom's was an old shack where an elderly couple lived. The yard was full of junk. Growing up, I remember two squirrels they kept as pets in a cage in the yard along with a rooster. After they passed the house was sold to a young wayward couple who lost their two young daughters there in a house fire. The house had to be torn down and the lot sat empty and overgrown for several years. It eventually went up for sale earlier this year and my brother and his wife bought it. They cleared the lot and fenced it in, and it looks better than it ever did before. It's now the loving sanctuary for unwanted horses that they purchase cheap at auctions.
