Weighing In On Week 23

Yes, it’s been weeks since I updated the blog on my weight loss goals.  I haven’t given up.  I’m still following the same program I have been since week one.  And I’m glad to report it’s still working.

I still go to the gym three days a week – usually Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  I spend an hour there.  I have also been walking for 30 minutes on my lunch break, going to three different local parks that are nearby. I usually walk anywhere from a mile to a mile and a half, using my pedometer to keep up with the calories burned – usually around 170.

It’s getting too hot to walk on my lunch hour now, so I’m going to miss that.  It was always nice to get out and enjoy nature and clear my head of thoughts, and to just get away from work and do something that felt great like this.

On May 30th, I stepped on the scale and had hit a very important goal.  I was at 230 lbs. That’s a 27 lb weight loss since New Year’s Eve when I started my diet. I was very excited about that. In fact, over the last three weeks I’ve lost close to 6 lbs, the biggest and quickest loss I’ve ever had. It even scared me a little.

So, now that’s it’s June and half the year is almost gone, it’s nice to be able to see that half of my weight loss goal is achieved too. If If I can drop 30 more by the end of the year, I will be quite happy.

I’m still using myfitnesspal.com to keep track of my food and calories. It just works for me!  I’ve logged in for over 150 days now, everyday this year. It’s actually fun to try to control my calorie intake each day, while also eating healthy and increasing things like protein intake. And believe me, I’m not starving myself, but when I have my mind set on my goals each day, by now it’s just become part of my everyday routine and my body is acclimated to it. I’m also drinking more water now each day than I ever did before in my life.

My body itself is really starting to shape up too.  I feel much better about looking in the mirror.  I even laid out in the sun a bit on Memorial Day weekend with my shirt off, something I never would have done before – even in my own back yard!  Yep, I was that self-conscious about my weight. Not anymore!

So that’s where I’m at. This is pretty much been the only New Years Resolution I’ve made and kept for myself this year, and I can honestly say I feel great.
