Despite my local Family Dollar having a really shady parking lot (don’t most Family Dollars?) thanks to the Pizza Hut on one side and the Thrift Store on the other, I made the trek there today to save some money. I’d received a flyer in the mail advertising lots of things we use, and it included a $5 off $25 coupon. I knew I could round up some other coupons for additional savings and that’s just what I did.
The main thing I wanted was the Arm & Hammer laundry detergent which was just $4.50. I usually get the small bottle at Walgreens when they are on sale for $6.99 and I have a coupon for BOGO free.
The large bottle of Clorox Bleach was just $1.66 and I had a .25 cent coupon for that.
Bounce Dryer sheets were $2.25. I had a .50 cent coupon for it.
Cascade was $4.75 and I had a $1.00 coupon for it.
Dawn Dishwashing Liquid was $2.00 and I had a $1.00 coupon for it.
Soft Scrub was $3.00 and I used a $1.00 coupon off it.
And lastly was my $5.00 coupon off the entire total because I did spend over $25. I picked up several other items which I didn’t have coupons for just to help me reach my total…Splenda, Degree Deo, Heinz, Sparkle paper towels, Kleenex, and the Cottonelle wipes. Some of these were on sale and some were just a good bargain that was hard to pass up.
For example, Degree was just $1.65 each. Cottonelle wipes were $2.25. Splenda was $2.50. The Sparkle paper towels were $4.50. The Heinz Ketchup was $1.85. The Kleenex was $3.00.
My Grand Total was $34.18 with tax and I saved a total of $10.69.
I think this was pretty good and there was probably even additional savings here if I did some price comparison shopping, which is what I plan to do. Later this week I think I’ll compare prices at my local Wal~Mart and we’ll see who is cheaper.
Do you shop at Family Dollar? If so, what items do you like to buy there which you know are cheaper than other places?
