Sharp Objects

I’m no longer in book limbo!

I chose Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn from my list the other day.

I read her 2nd book, Dark Places, back in July and it was one of the best books I’ve read this year.  I’m about 80 pages into Sharp Objects, which is actually her first book, and I am also absolutely amazed with it.

Gillian Flynn is so good in my eyes that if she wrote more and more books, I could probably read nothing but her for at least a year and never be bored.  She’s. That. Good!

She’s just different.  Her descriptions of things are fresh and interesting.  Her narrative hits hard.  Here’s a taste…

They always call depression the blues, but I would have been happy to waken to a periwinkle outlook. Depression to me is urine yellow: Washed out, exhausted miles of weak piss.
