366 of Me: Day 52

This is a miniature Elephant Ear plant that sits on our kitchen windowsill.

We’ve had it about two years, and unlike regular elephant ear plants, it has never gone dormant.  Not even in the winter.

We even put it outside last year, keeping it in it’s pot, and it did just fine.  It’s one of my favorite house plants in the winter.

366 of Me: Day 48

Good Morning!  It’s Friday!

And what better way to start the day right than with a rooster pic!

J and I both love roosters in the kitchen, like many, since it’s a down home symbol for morning I guess.  And they are quite colorful.I grew up with a tiny banty rooster and two hens scratching around the back yard, and if I ever get back to the farm, I’ll have chickens again!

This wooden guy guards the kitchen from the top of our cabinets.  At least 15 years ago maybe, he was a gift to my grandmother one Christmas from me.  After her husband died and she moved in with my aunt to be closer to family, she gave many of her things back to the children and grandchildren, whoever had given her those things.

My mother saved the rooster for me!

366 of Me: Day 47

Here’s a picture of the snow that fell on Valentine’s Day Eve earlier this week.  Yep, if you got married on V Day this year here in the Lou, then Mother Nature wore white to your wedding.

But the temp rose later in the day, and by evening it was completely gone.

This pic is of one of our lovely sleepy flower beds with our walking stick tree and a bird bath.  Can’t wait to see it wake up and get dressed in green in a few months.

366 of Me: Day 45

It wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without posting something red, right?  No hearts today.

Just our coffee maker.  Yep, we have a red coffee maker.  Second only to J, it’s the one thing I love to see every morning.

Monday through Friday, I set its timer and at ten till six every morning, the cat starts singing the maker’s praises as soon as it wakes up and starts bubbling (the coffee maker, not the cat).  It’s like the coffee maker is the cat’s alarm clock.

It’s red because J likes red in the kitchen, especially appliances and such. More red pics, and more pics from the kitchen to follow this week.

366 of Me: Day 44

The other side of the windowsill from yesterday’s post.

Two very large vases, also very colorful glass, and a candle.  I love the vibrant colors.

And yes, those are wine corks – J and I have been keeping corks from bottles of wine we drink ever since we’ve been together. Don’t fret…that’s almost 9 years of corks in those vases.

Notice the glass rooster picture in the background?  More roosters to follow!
