No this isn’t meant to sound sexual!  It’s a screen shot from Austin Kleon’s new book, Show Your Work, which is due out March 6th.  I was lucky enough to get an E-Advanced Copy which I started today. (Hopefully he doesn’t mind me sharing!)

I fell in love with Austin’s second book, Steal Like An Artist, and loved it so much I bought copies for all my friends.  As an author, it really inspired me and I continue to recommend it to others.  It’s under 200 pages, full of pictures and doodles and pages like the one pictured above, so it’s a quick read.  As for the size and style, think of those little inspirational quote books in the gift shop full of sunsets and puppies and you get the idea.  But Kleon’s book skips the puppies and his full of artistic inspiration. Read my review here!

His new book, Show Your Work, is kind of about marketing and social media.  So, it’s a bit help for an indie author like me.  And this piece above really hit home for me today.  Austin even mentions sharing a photo each day, but to “show your work,” and not just your lunch or latte.  Point taken!  Challenge accepted.  It’s been tough doing this photo a day thing, so Kleon’s advice was perfect.

More about the book to follow.  I’ll post a full review when I’m finished.

366 of Me: Day 26

This is my new favorite wine.  It’s a Muscato that J picked up at the grocery store.  It’s about $18 a bottle, a bit high for our tastes and in comparison to what we normally drink, but it’s well worth it.

I went to a wine tasting last night at All On The Same Page Bookstore.  I only had one glass and it was of a Chardonnay that a writer friend had brought.  It was quite good and was the first glass of Chardonnay I’d drank in years.  I tend to be more of a “sweet” wine person.

It reminded me though how much I actually do like Chardonnay, so I may be searching the grocery store for a good bottle of it sometime soon.

Years ago J and I threw a wine and cheese party for friends.  It was a huge success.  We’ve been in our house for six years now and have yet to throw one here.  I don’t know why.  Maybe this will be the year.

366 of Me: Day 23

This is Avery.  I’ve had him since 2000, when I adopted him and his brother from a coworker/friend who was moving overseas.  Being grown up big kitties, no one would adopt both of them together and she didn’t want them to get separated.  I had no pets at the time and agreed to take them and keep them together, despite having only met Avery once before and never meeting his brother. They’ve been a part of my life ever since.
