I’m sad…

One of my favorite shows, Pushing Daises, is now literally pushing daisies.

As ratings declined, ABC opted not to order additional episodes beyond the second season’s initial thirteen.

By November 20, 2008, Bryan Fuller, the creator, had confirmed that ABC had canceled Pushing Daisies, though he also mentioned the possibility of wrapping up story lines in a comic book series or a movie.  I doubt this every happens.  Most of us who remember Dead Like Me are still waiting for those endings!

The last scheduled episode of Pushing Daisies aired on December 17, 2008, while three episodes remain unaired. ABC will reportedly air them in the summer of 2009. But these episodes will not provide a narrative conclusion to the series.

I guess I’ll go watch what everyone else is watching…American Idol.  Geez…

More About the Good Ole Days

It’s funny….I’ve caught two different radio stations talking about things of the past on the air this week.  Here’s a list of things they mentioned which are also slowly going away…

Zima (Oh no!  What to do with all those life savers and grenadine I bought.  Oh wait, haven’t drank that since I was 22.)

The Yugo (Does anyone drive this anymore anyway?)

The Yellow Pages (I still have one from 1988, 89, 91, 92, 93, 94, 96, 99, 02, 03, 06, and I think there’s a few still on the front porch anyway.  It’s all on line these days.)  I wonder if you still get a person when you call 1411?

Movie Rental Stores (There are two within walking distance of my house.  One I’ve never been into.  Too expensive anyway.  Thank you Netflix.  More about this in the next post.)

VCRs  (Unplugged ours over Xmas holiday actually.  Wow!  We own an antique.)

The Classified Ads in Newspapers (Thank you Craig’s List.)

Polaroid is saying bye bye to the instant film, but supposedly creating a digital camera right now with the option to print immediately if you want to.

Stand Alone Bowling Alleys (It’s all going to game stops and pubs and casionos.)

Wild Horses (I’m not talking about the song.  Some rich gal in Montana is actually buying up land to try to save them.)

Personal Checks (I predicted this one a long long time ago when the debit card came out.  Thanks to free online bill pay, I rarely write a check these days anyway.  I’m still using checks with my old address on them and we moved two years ago.)

Paper Bills (I get email reminders and view them on line for most of my stuff anyway.)

Honey Bees (It’s sad and dangerous.  Paula Cole, if you are reading this, release a new song.  Where have all the honey bees gone?)

Paper Magazines and Newspapers (Just this week some long running paper in Detroit dropped to 3 days a week.  We get our news on line or on the TV these days anyway.)
