Picked up this story from fellow writer, Tom Dolby.
Apparently, the quaint authentic Italian cafe in Manhattan’s Upper West Side known as Cafe La Fortuna is closing in 3 days.
John Lennon spent so much time at Cafe La Fortuna that Owner Vincent “Uncle Vinny” Urwand retired John’s favorite table and kept it in the front window for 25 years. Cafe La Fortuna gave Yoko the table as a gift in the spring of 2006. Rich in over 3 decades of history, Cafe La Fortuna was located between the Lincoln Center and Lennon’s old residence.
Dolby enjoyed the cafe while editing his book there. What a great story! I’ve never been to New York, but my heart always goes out to an independent business when its doors have to close! Support your local shops, bookstores, and cafes. They need you!
