The Funk

Ow, we want the funk….give up the funk…ow, we need the funk….

Although that song reminds me of that cute MasterCard commerical with the kids dancing,  it’s also what I call my state of writing sometimes when I have too many ideas going on at once and it’s hard to concentrate on just one. Here’s what’s going on…

  • I’m obsessed on checking email for replies from all the queries I sent out.
  • I recently submitted some of my poetry to The New Yorker and The Missouri Review…more waiting.
  • I have five more queries to send out which need a synopsis.
  • I need to work on my synopsis.
  • I’m still working through another edit of For The Most Part.
  • I’m rereading the progress I’ve made so far on The Maker and making corrections before I start on it again.  It’s been a year since I touched it.
  • I’m working on a short story for an anthology with a due date of March 15th for submission.
  • I’d like to start on the mailed queries so I need to find time to start printing out some sample chapters.
  • Oh, did I mention I started reading Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City?  I never read them before and always wanted to.
  • Don’t forget blogging.

So, there you have it.  If that’s not what Writer’s Funk is, then I don’t know what is!
